Two Palms Men's Hang Loose Rayon Shirt
Hang Loose Men's Rayon Shirt – 100% Rayon, Made in Hawaii
The shaka — thumb and pinky extended, middle three fingers folded down — is the universal hand sign of Hawaii, a gesture that means aloha, relax, no worries, we're good. It originated in Hawaii and has spread across surf culture worldwide, but it still belongs most authentically to the islands where it was born. The Hang Loose shirt puts that spirit on fabric: the shaka and the surf culture it represents rendered in a print that is as relaxed and welcoming as the gesture itself. Made in Hawaii, USA from 100% rayon under the Two Palms Puanani label.

Why 100% Rayon?

Frequently Asked Questions
Where did the shaka come from?
The shaka's exact origin is debated, but the most widely told story credits Hamana Kalili of Laie, Oahu, who lost three middle fingers in a sugar mill accident in the early 20th century. He became a railroad guard and would wave to children with his remaining thumb and pinky — and the gesture caught on. Whether or not this is the true origin, the shaka has been a symbol of Hawaiian aloha spirit since at least the mid-20th century and is now recognized worldwide as a symbol of Hawaii's relaxed, welcoming culture.
